The history of Paleospace

Aware of the richness of the natural and geological sites in their area, the town of Villers-sur-Mer and the local association of communes of the Fleurie Coast wanted to create an original and enjoyable museum experience worthy of the value of the exhibits: Paleospace Odyssey.

Paleospace first opened its doors on April 20th 2011 with the aim of bringing the remarkable sites of the area to general attention:

      • The cliffs of ‘Les Vaches Noires’.
      • The marshland of Villers-Blonville.
      • The Greenwich Meridian .

Before the museum opened, a scientific committee was formed and given the task of considering the main themes of Paleospace.

Moreover agreements were signed with the National Natural History Museum in Paris and the Observatory of Paris to strengthen the cultural co-operation between Paleospace and these renowned institutions.
